Your Network is your Net Worth

Go out of your way to build connections with people who have the skills you need.
Think about it, networking has always been a part of your life. Every friend, mentor, or colleague you have today is a result of past interactions. The difference now? You’re networking with purpose—not just to meet people, but to become a better version of yourself.
Books and courses can teach you a lot, but human experience offers something even greater: real-world wisdom. So, start networking to learn, not just to earn.
Networking is about quality, not just quantity
If you have a large social circle, take a moment to reflect:
How has each person contributed to your personal growth?
Are your connections challenging you to improve, or are they simply keeping you company?
If some of your connections aren’t adding value, consider stepping back. Even if is just for a month. Use that time to seek out people who inspire, challenge, and elevate you.
Stop watching, start connecting
Think of someone you admire. Maybe it’s a mentor, an entrepreneur, or a leader in your field.
Instead of just wondering how they got there, why not ask?
Stop speculating. Start establishing a connection.
Don’t be intimidated by their success…be curious about their story.
A simple message, a thoughtful comment, or a genuine question can spark a relationship that changes everything. You likely have thousands of followers on X, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok. Moreover, you follow even more. However, are these meaningful connections? Your social media numbers could represent the beginning of a permanent network, not just empty figures.
Leave your ego at the door
Networking isn’t about seeking validation. It’s about finding value in others. Who you are becoming is far more important than what you already know. A person's eagerness to learn is generally appreciated. Therefore, be the type of person who is keen to learn.
Expand your horizons—literally and mentally
Think of networking as traveling beyond your city, country, or even continent. Just as exploring new places broadens your perspective, meaningful connections can completely transform your life.
I recall how living in a foreign place and being away from home for six months broadened my horizons. When I returned, I wasn’t the same person. I asked different questions, saw new opportunities, and had a fresh perspective on life.
Remember, everything you’ve achieved so far is, in some way, tied to the people you’ve met along the way. And guess what? The same principle applies to your future.
If you want to grow, be intentional with your connections. The right relationships will take you exactly where you want to go.
A challenge:
Reach out to one person this week who inspires you. Ask them a thoughtful question or engage with their content. Who knows? It could be the beginning of something life-changing.
